
Getting the Heat Right Without Hurting the Eyes
When you’re designing an infrared heater for a bathroom, you’re basically fighting a tug-of-war. You want it to feel warm and cozy the second you step in—especially for babies—but you don’t want a light so harsh it feels like you’re staring into the sun. Those standard short-wave lamps? They’ve got a glare that’s just too much. So, we change how the light works. The Secret is in the Spectrum We use a specific kind of quartz envelope and filament to block out that aggressive blue light. By tweaking the wavelength, we push the energy away from the visible light and deeper into the infrared zone. The result? You feel the warmth on your skin, but your eyes aren’t taking a beating. It’s a much softer experience. Building it to Last Depending on the setup, these lamps run on either low voltage or a standard 220V. We stick with quartz glass because it can handle the wild jumps in temperature without just snapping. To keep things feeling mellow, we often add a matte coating or a diffused reflector. It stops the light from being a “spotlight” and instead spreads that warmth evenly across the room. But here’s the thing: you have to be careful with the wattage. If you cram a high-powered tube into a tiny fixture without enough airflow, the whole thing will overheat. It’s all about matching the heat of the lamp to what the heat sink can actually handle. Otherwise, you’re just looking at a burnt-out bulb. Putting it Together We make these easy to swap out. Most of them use simple push-in connectors, so you aren’t fighting with wires when it’s time for a replacement. Just keep in mind that bathrooms are humid. Really humid. If a drop of water hits a scorching hot quartz tube, the glass can shatter from the shock. That’s why the seals around the base have to be tight. Before you wire anything up, just double-check that your housing has the right IP rating for the zone. Safe and warm is the only way to do it.
