Here is the thing: these lamps don’t just heat up the air. They use something called short-wave infrared. Think of it like the sun on a cold winter day. You feel the heat on your skin even if the air is freezing. That’s exactly what’s happening here. The light goes right through the air and hits the damp walls and ceiling. It shakes up the water molecules, which makes the moisture evaporate way faster than it would on its own. Once that water is in the air, your vent fan can actually grab it and kick it outside. It stops that gross condensation from settling on your cold tiles—which is exactly where mold loves to move in.
A quick word of caution
We usually use high-wattage quartz tubes because they hit peak temperature almost instantly. It feels great. But because they put out so much heat in such a small spot, you have to be smart about it. If you put one of these in a tiny bathroom and forget to turn on the exhaust fan, you haven’t built a drying system—you’ve built a sauna.
